What’s the difference between the Original and the King?

The main difference is size. The King model is almost twice the size of the Original and allows you to split taller and wider firewood.

If you buy already split firewood and want to make kindling go for the Kindling Cracker Original! If you have medium to large firewood, the Kindling Cracker King will get the job done!

What size firewood can I split?

You can split wood with a diameter of up to 16cm with the Kindling Cracker Original. With the King model you can split wood up to 22.5cm.

Can my Kindling Cracker split hardwood?

Yes! Any variety of wood that you can split with an axe can be safely split with a Kindling Cracker with ease. Oak, birch and ash are no problem at all.

Will it need sharpening?

In a word, no. The unique wedge design of the Kindling Cracker means the blade does not need to be razor sharp to work well.

It is easy to sharpen the blade if you want to and some owners decide to do that from time to time. Lay your Kindling Cracker flat and give it a few strokes with a metal file and it's as good as new!

Will it wear out with lots of use?

No. Top grade cast iron is used to make the Kindling Cracker. Each one manufactured in a top Australian foundry. The Kindling Cracker will last for generations if cared for.

Do I get a warranty?

All Kindling Crackers come with a five year warranty. All of our other products have a one year warranty.

Do I need to fix my Kindling Cracker to a chopping block?

This is down to personal preference and it isn’t essential. The design of both models means fixing to a chopping block is possible.

Lots of owners split wood and make kindling without fixing their Kindling Cracker. There are also many owner who prefer to have their Kindling Cracker mounted on a chopping block.

Is shipping free?

Yes! We offer free shipping on all orders over €99! If your order is less than €99 the shipping cost is €15.00

What courier do you use?

We use DHL for all orders shipped within the EU.

What if I want to return my order?

Send us an email to info@fandangofiretools.com and we’ll send you a return label to put on the package. Then just drop it off at your closest DHL service point.

Kindling Cracker

A cracking tool. So easy to use.

Phenomenal

I use it daily. Definitely get the hammer that they advertise can go with it. Works wonderfully. Not all sizes of wood fit in it but smaller pieces can be broken down well

Should have purchased the XL version, but it works on smaller logs / pieces of wood

Most firewood you purchase has about 50/50 chance of fitting within the small-ish diameter of the top ring. Whatever you do, if any sides of the log are touching the round edge (after trying to center it), start over with a smaller log. The splitter does indeed split the log, but if it's slightly too large, that now-split log will expand and the log will jam in the ring. Can you get it out? Yes, but not that easily (use a hammer).That said, it works great with smaller logs. And it's much safer than swinging an axe near your hands / fingers as the log is quickly impaled on the cutting blade, as it doesn't move as you strike down on it. Also, It basically 'just' splits one piece of wood into two pieces. Not one piece into 4 or 6, etc. as suggested in the 'after' photos that show a stack of perfect 1 x 1 inch pieces of kindling. One becomes 2, then two become four, etc., just splitting one pice of wood at a time. Am I happy with it? Yep, it works; just lower your lumberjack-level of expectations.
